Update

Well it has been a week since Emily has been back from the hospital and she is doing great.  The only problem I am seeing now is that she is starting to get a harder stool from the added rice in her formula.  Hopefully though that will change as her body gets used to the new formula.  I am also happy to note that she is finally starting to outgrow her newborn clothing and fitting into 0-3 month clothes a lot better.

Now that everything is getting back to normal, I am going to focus on trying to get back to my pre-baby weight and maybe even better then that.  I am just really going to start focusing on eating healthy and trying to work out when ever I can find the time.  I have about 40lbs to lose and I hope to have it gone  by the time my little girl turns 1.

I will keep everyone posted on my success and also post great recipes that I find along the way.  I know it is going to be hard at first, but I am tired of living in sweats and yoga pants.

Home Sweet Home

Well, my little girl is finally home.  We were able to take her home on Friday.  It turns out that she does have Sandifer's.  They switched her formula to Enfamil A.R. and she is on Zantac 3 times a day.  It will take 1-2 weeks before the medicine fully takes effect, but I can tell a difference already.   She does still have a episode here and there, but nothing as bad as what they where.  I am so glad that she is home.  Now when I think back, I can see all the signs of her having bad reflux.  She does have laryngomalacia, which most babies who have that do have reflux problems.  She used to spit up constantly and although she was gaining weight, it wasn't as much as she should have been.  I am hoping that with this new formula, she will be able to put on the weight and be where she needs to be.  I am just so happy that it is nothing more serious.

Very frustrated

Here is a little background information first.  I had my little girl 10 days early.  My pregnancy was great and my laboring was going good too, just a little long.  Well, after my baby was born, she let out a little cry, my husband cut the cord, and she went into cardiac arrest and her heart stopped for 18 minutes.  She was then transferred to another hospital where she stayed in the NICU for 2 weeks before coming home.

Well, after being home for about a month, she appeared to have a seizure.  Well, let me just tell you it freaked me out.  It wasn't long at all, less then a minute, but I took her to the ER nonetheless.  After blood work and a couple more episodes, they admitted her into the hospital.  I let them know how it seemed to have started when I changed her to liquid formula instead of the powder, and the doctor said because of her test results and the length of the seizures, he doubts very much that it is seizures she is having.  He said that he thinks it is Sandifer's Syndrome caused by acid reflux.  It is where the body responds like a seizure to the pain of the acid.

I really hope that that is what it is and I can bring her home soon.

About Me

My name is Jennifer and I just gave birth to a little girl on September 16, 2013, which means I have a 7 week old right now.  I am very excited to finally have our little bundle of joy, but am also realizing now all the things I miss not having a baby, like sleep.

Well I had my 6 week check up at the doctors last week and everything was good to go and I got the ok from my doctor to start working out and going about my regular routine again.  I just need to take it slow.  I am happy to hear that, because as of right now the only clothes I can fit into are my sweats and yoga pants.  I did actually go and by a pair of jeans the other day, 2 sizes bigger then what I was.  I can not believe how much extra skin I know have around my stomach.  Everything is so loose and it just needs to go away. The only problem is how do you work full time, take care of a new born, clean the house, make dinner, and then find time to work out when you are already sleep deprived to begin with?

I decided to write this blog about my journeys of trying to navigate through this new chapter in life and trying not to go crazy in the process.
